Our Mission

Our philosophy is to raise wildlife orphans in much the same way the adult would in the wild by giving them opportunities outside of a cage to explore the forests, fields and creeks to gain confidence and skills necessary for survival after release.

Rescue

Intake orphaned and injured wildlife who won’t be able to survive on their own.

Rehabilitate

Provide daily food, shelter, water, and enrichment to equip animals to be able to eventually survive in the wild.

Release

Release animals back into their species specific natural habitat when they are old and strong enough to survive on their own.

Why do animals end up in Howling Mountain’s care?

Most of the orphans in our care are displaced due to human interference. This could be from relocating a mother raccoon in someone’s attic and leaving babies behind, shooting a mother and father fox who are raiding a chicken coop and leaving behind a den full of kits, or a mother coyote being trapped and killed leaving the pups behind.
